Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Satisfaction of Judgement ?

I paid off a judgement to the creditor ( NYSHEC ) via their collection agency Risk Management on July 9, 2003. As of today September 25th, I have not received notification that the judgement has been satisfied in the court.

After doing some investigation, I was told they have not filed the necessary paperwork with the court.

How do I initiate the proper documents, and which documents do I use to have this lifted at court level?

Also in my research I read that I can receive compensation if the papers were not filed in a timely manner. What do I need to do to file for this, as it has been 11 weeks and this should all have been taken care of by the end of July?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Karen

Re: Satisfaction of Judgement ?

A satisfaction must/should be provided to you by the judgment creditor. This should be in "recordable form". It may have been sent to you. It may be in the clerk's office waiting to be entered. This is what you must look for.

Good Luck
