Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

How to Stop a Judgement

My growing firm has been unable to meet A/P and some vendors are hiring very agressive attornies. One in particular placed a judgement with no prior notification. We just paid the $19K. Now he's repping a vendor for $190K. He is unreasonable and will not negotiate a long term payment schedule. What can I do before this accelerates. If I can keep them at bay for 90 days or so I have a change of paying a reasonable sum.

Re: How to Stop a Judgement

I remember this problem. I started an under-capitalized buisness 20 years ago and made it past the start-up and eventually sold it before becoming an attorney.

This is a common problem and your lawyer can help you. Your attorney can get you 180 days. Any competatnt attorney can get you 180 days.

Title 11 can get you 3-5 years, but that is a more extreme tool.

There are tools out there and your attorney should be guarding your back and helping nurture you through this rough patch. This is what business lawyers do.

You are welcome to a consultation for no fee.
