Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Got caught smoking on the subway platform with 2 friends. We got taken in and were given a DAT. I did not have anything on me, but one of my friends had a minimal amount of weed on him (a little over a gram). I am a first time offender and I was wondering what are the consequences as far as my job (I work in education) and applying to graduate school? Thank you.

Generally most minor marijuana possession of this size are pled down to a violation or adjourned in contenplation of dismissal, either way you would have no criminal record.
