Legal Question in Family Law in New York

20 yr old moved out of family home of their own choice, didn't care for rules in home, other minor children present. Has been living with another family. Now I get letters from attorney tell us that we must sign Waiver of Process,Renunciation and Consent letter of Guardianship and an Affidavit Of Parent relinquishing our rights as 20 yr old's parents. If we chose not to sign they will arrange for a Citation to be issued by the court. According to the letter they are doing this so that other family can have 20 yr old added to their medical policy. Who would be responsible for the costs of this policy? 20 yr old has never been taken off our medical policy even when 20 yr old told us we could take them off we still kept 20 yr old on policy.Have documents proving she knows she still has coverage. If he by chance gets these people as guardian of person, can they sue us for support? What can we do?

If you are going to sign the guardianship papers you should have them sign a waiver of child support.
