Legal Question in Family Law in New York

child support

last nov 2007 i was award support payments of from my x husband. i agreed at the time, to allow him to pay me, instead of having his wages garnished. he has not paid at all. So i was going to file a violation for non payment. the problem is i had a lawyer at the time, but he had another case going on at the same time, so when we went in front of the judge, my lawyer was not present. my questions is should i have received some sort of verification from the court, regards to the support order?

Re: child support

All family court orders are sent to all attorneys and participants. You should call up the family court and ask that they send you a copy of the order.

Supreme Court is a different story. Your lawyer should have prepared an order and had the judge sign it. That is the problem if you don't have a lawyer in Supreme Court.

However, I presumed that your question had to do with Family Court.
