Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child's name

I had a child, subsequently married the father and since had that marriage annulled. My child uses my last name, which is my maiden name, and is the only name that has ever been known to the child. The social security card has a different last name. How can I amend this without a court involvement. I live in a small town and I don't believe the judge is all that fond of me.

Re: Child's name

Your question is not clear. What is it you want to amend, the social security card or other documents? If it is the social security card you need to request that information from the office. If you want to legally change your child's name then that requires court intervention.
