Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Court order question

My boyfriend and his ex-girlfriend have a 6 month old daughter. His ex-girlfriend has recently been involved with a man who recently got out of jail (he was in jail for abusing several women). Is there a court order that he can get to make sure this man is no where near his daughter?

Re: Court order question

He can apply for a court order of protection. It may not be granted based soley on the man's record. You may have to subpeona his parole record or the papers that he was charged under.

I would also suggest your boyfriend monitor the situation and advise child protective services of the situation and have them look in on the child on a regular basis. He might even want to consider taking custody.

Good luck.
