Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Can custody rights to a child be taken away because of ONE missed court date? if so, How many times must the petitioner try to serve the other parent before the courts default the rights over to the petitioner? Lastly, if custodial rights are taken, how does that affect visitation rights?

Your question that can it be taken away from ONE missed court date is no, it would be unlikely for a judge to do that. The court will state what type of service that require in the case. You should really consult an attorney.
