Legal Question in Family Law in New York

If my daughter died, and she lives in another state, Michigan, and has a sixteen-year-old son, how long would it take for me to become legal guardian? (in her will, I am the proposed legal guardian).

Would I have to travel to Michigan to finish paper work or could I just finish this in New York? Would my grandson come live with me right away (because there are no relatives in Michigan) or would I have to finish doing some legal procedures before he can come live with me?

How long does this process usually take?

Thank you very much.

I believe you would have to file in Michigan. You should contact an attorney in that State.
