divorce

im tryin to get divorced in new york city my x lives in mass i send him the papers and now he doesnt want to sign them now so im going to file again where he doesnt have to sign but what happens now???

You don't need his signature to obtain a divorce from him in New York State. What you should have is a lawyer who won't make the mistake of sending him papers when the chances are he would not sign.

Every county in every state has a civil process deputy in the Police Department who will serve him for a nominal cost. This gives the court jurisdiction to grant a divorce.

You may be able to move forward with the divorce if your spouse was legally served, he refuses to sign, and more than 40 days has passed.
