Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Family Court judgements

I have several family court judements against my ex-husband for non support. He will be inheriting a large sum of money from his grandmothers estate and I would like to know what I have to do for these judgements to get paid by this inheritance he will be receiving?

Re: Family Court judgements

"Inheritance" money and assets are often Not available for payment of a beneficiary's child support or other like obligations. So don't count on it.

But, if you file a Child Support "Violation" Petition, to hold your EX in contempt for the arrears, and permit the Court to threaten him with incarceration, your Ex may then be compelled to pay the arrears to date, from whatever source he may have available.

Good luck,
