Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have been in a long term relationship (14 years)that has recently ended. He was when I met him a NY state resident. After 4-5 years he changed his residence status to North Carolina where we had an additional home. Am I entitled to palimony or do I have legal rights in this case? I know that North Carolina does not recognize common law marriages, but we first started living with each other in NY. for a few years before he bought the house in NC. and started living down there for the winters.
