Legal Question in Family Law in New York

paternity

My Grandsons' Mom dated my Son for a short time, she got pregnant, never told him she was pregnant and the day the baby was born she allowed him to believe it was his.

My Grandson is now 9 yrs old--how can I find out if he is really my son's child without hurting all parties involved?

Re: paternity

You can't and you shouldn't. Moreover, you are not a party and have no right to seek the information.

If you are concerned about his inheriting money, don't leave him any. Even if he turned out not to be your boy's son, Your son has been his father for 9 years and the court will not change that in most cases. He is estopped from making the argument. Hence your options are, leave him in the will or disinherit him. YOu have no right to DNA.
