Legal Question in Family Law in New York

support payments

MY daughter has moved out of her mothers house who is the custodial parent, to live with her boyfriend. She is 18, with no intentions on moving back. Am I still obligated to pay child support?

Re: support payments

You should ask your daughter what her expectations of you are; and what her plans are regarding her future. Afterwards, talk to her mother, and ask her the same questions.

Then decide whether you and the mother, should initiate action to emancipate and terminate support.

Keep in mind that anything You decide in a vacumm or w/o input and cooperation from the mother, will probably not succeed in court.

Good luck,
