Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

i have a civil court case with a cab company that hit and killed my pedigree dog. i have received papers back from their lawyers and i dont understand any of it.

It's hard to respond in any meaningful way to your question. Neither I nor any other attorney can explain to you what those papers say unless we either read those documents or at least know the precise nature of the documents.

Unfortunately, in the United States, animals are viewed as being worth only their "replacement value." Unless the driver of the cab that hit your dog did it intentionally (which is unlikely), then your damages would be very limited. There is generally no regard for the pet owner's love and affection for the pet or for the emotional distress suffered.
