Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Is it illegal to buy a NYS licensed professional architect's seal without his or her consent? But never used the seal, and didn't receive any benefit. What kind of crime is it if it's illegal? And what punishment will be?

For pity's sake, don't use it. Unauthorized practice of a licensed profession is always a felony, and affixing the stamp is per se the practice of architecture. And we don't have professional architects in New York. We have professional engineers, and we have registered architects, and yes, it pays to be precise in this area, as people can be killed through the improper use of that deal.
