Typically, a letter of intent is a letter that you would write stating that you are intending to enter into a contract with another, but you need to do some background investigation first. The letter will usually describe the parameters of the investigation that you're doing. Common examples include the ability to review financial records and other confidential information, plus an agreement not to disclose such information.

Because every case is different, there really isn't a form that you can use. Letters of intent run the gamut from buying and selling property, businesses, or proposed transactions.
