Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

My mother took a car loan out for me in her name two years ago.I make the monthly payments, the car is registered and insured in my name. We had a disagreement unrelated to the vehicle, now she wants the car back. I have made all the payments the last two years, but made them to her in cash. She wouldn't take a check. My question is can she just take the car back or do I have a legal right to it?

The car is yours (I assume the title is in your name also). You just may have a problem with the lender if she did not turn over the money to them. I would have the car locks changed and speak with the lender.
