small claim law suit

Is their a law in new york that says that verbal agreements are not binding? i was promised by phone to be repaid for a loan to cover my brothers funeral expense when is life insurance claim was settled. that was four years ago.

Small claims jurisdiction is $3000.00

Generally a contract is much easier to enforce in writing...only some contracts need be in writing.

Start your case sooner rather than later.

There is also an old aadge in contract law...:"He who trades his horse for a promise deserves to walk.
