You do not become a citizen by marrying a US citizen, but you may be able to obtain a green card. Assuming all other factors are in your favor you can still obtain a green card through marriage despite overstaying your visa. I strongly urge you to speak with and retain an immigration attorney. Hi,

You will eventually be able to become a U.S. citizen based on marriage to a U.S. citizen, even if your stay in the U.S. is currently based on an expired tourist visa. All sponsorship paperwork can be filed together and you can continue to remain in the U.S.: www.h1b1.com/Uscitizen.htm
