Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Extension of stay

Hello, dear attorneys.

I have a multiple entry visa for 5 years and I'm in US now. I would like to extend my stay for next 6 months. In case of denial will my multiple entry visa be canceled? Thank you,

Karen.

Re: Extension of stay

Generally speaking, as long as you leave the US before your extension application is decided, your visa will not be canceled as long as you filed the extension in a timely manner; it was a nonfrivolous application; and you did not engage in unauthorized employment. If you need assistance in preparing and filing your extension application please contact me.

Re: Extension of stay

First of all, where are you from? This is very important.

You have a multiple visa which means the immigration services expects you to come and go often.

Yes, if your application is denied it would be an issue in the future. However, there are ways to handle your situation.
