Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

illegal aliens

As a New York Real Estate Broker is there any problem with me renting to an illegal alien?

May I ask them if they are illegal?

Re: illegal aliens

1. You may rent a residence to an illegal alien with little fear of being prosecuted. While this is technically a violation of the law, I have no experience with any real estate agent or building management agent being prosecuted for this action alone.

2. I am assuming that you charge this person the same amount of money as everyone else and you know of no criminal activity (drug/cigarette smuggling, people smuggling, etc) going on at the apartment.
