Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Unlawful Discharge from a job

My husband was recently fired from his job because his employer claims that he said something inappropriate. My husband was not the person who spoke. He was given no details nor any sort of warning. This all came as a complete surprise. Is there anything he can do?

Re: Unlawful Discharge from a job

Although New York is an Employment-at-will state and people can be fired for a non-discriminatory reason, an attorney could be helpful in either getting your husband reinstated or negotiating a fair severance package. If the company has mistakenly and publicly attributed racist or sexist comments to your husband, there could be additional issues to discuss.
