Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Unfortunaly I got a 30 day notice in March to be out by April 30. Found out from someone that my landlord said there is going to be trouble if I am not out , was told from social services on LI it has to go thru the courts I am not sure my landlord knows this. I am unemployed and broke I am asking if a kind lawyer can send my landlord a letter explaining the laws and let me pay him/her when I get a job or do it pro bono. please contact me thank you
