Legal Question in Legal Ethics in New York

Threatened to kill

My wife,49, a comptoller, works for a family owned business. A male serviceman employee,52, said to her:'m going to kill you over this vacation time and they will never find your body''. This employee thinks he has more vacation time coming, and according to company records, he does not. There was no witnesses to the threat. My wife has had run ins with this employee before regarding company policies. My wifes employer said he will talk to him. My wifes very upset, she has to deal with this man every morning before he goes on his road calls. Knowing her employer we both feel this will be smoothed over as other incidents with this employee have. Besides leaving her job, what can she do legally? Is her employer legally obligated to do something? Thank you.

Re: Threatened to kill

The threat is a crime and could be reported to the police and possibly would be prosecuted. She is safer if more people know about threats like this. The employer should contemplate firing this bozo and may take it more seriously if she file a complaint with the police.
