Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in New York

Malpractice

I engaged an attorney and he claimed that he was negotiating an alleged debt.

Instead of negotiating as he claimed I received notice that their was a judgment lodged against me.

Subsequently i settled with this party but I believe that the attorney who ''claimed'' he negotiated deal should be held liable.

If nothing else he should be made to reimburse me for all of my expenses?

Comments?

Re: Malpractice

Held liable for what?

Did the attorney incur the debt? Did the attorney cause the judgment?

It seems unlikely.
