Re: compensation law

You generally cannot sue your employer for an injury which occurred while you were working on the job. Your remedy is to file for workers compensation. However, if your employer did not own the property where yuo slipped and fell, you may have a claim against the separate property owner.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699

Re: compensation law

Under NY law you may not sue your employer for negligence. Such an case is covered exclusively by Workers Compensation. However, if it can be shown that a third party had responsibility of cleaning snow/ice from the premises and failed to do so, you may have a case against that third-party.

My office handles Workers Compensation cases in addition to Personal Injury and Social Security Disability cases for those who are seriously injured.

If you'd like a free consultation, please give me a call at (877)NYC-LAW1 or (877)692-5291.

Re: compensation law

Whether you can sue your employer depends on whether or not you are covered by the employer's workers'compensation insurance. I took your question to mean that you are a part-time employee; if so, you might not be covered and then could sue. You should find out if you are covered for workers' compensation. In addition, if another company (or person) owns the land where you fell, you may be able to sue them if he facts and injuries of your case warrant it. If you wish to discuss your case, feel free to call me at 212-622-7180. We do these cases on a contigency basis.
