Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

I filed a lead lawsuit concerning my 2 children back in 2000, now my son is 13 in a half and they finally won now my lawyer says we go to court tomorrow the first of February and my children money stays in the bank until there 18 but he gets his money, I'm a single mom of 5 and we need help now what do we do, please can you tell me what to do. Thank you so much

Except for medical necessities, funds obtained for injured children are generally off limits until the child turns 18. You could have your lawyer apply to the court for permission to invade the funds before that time, but most judges are quite strict about it and will only allow a release of money to pay for the child's medical treatment.
