Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

what happen

if i was under the influence of alchol underage served at that bar while blacked out spit in a cops face unkownlgy after being severly betten by the cops and other peoplesit in jail fo a month and 1 year later still pending trial how could i sue them for my pain and suffering and if not just to not plead guilty to a felony when i have no crimal record

There is a doctrine in the law called "Dram Shop" by which a tavern owner may become responsible to someone who suffers injury owing to carelessness of a tavern customer who continued to be served after displaying drunkeness. Your situation sounds more like a deliberate act (spitting) whether you lost your sensibilities or not. Deliberate acts would likely not be covered under the tavern-keeper's insurance. Good luck. You can make a claim against the police, but we would not take a case like that unless we were paid a substantial fee up front (like $10K). It's usually not worth the money. Also, I'm not clear about the timing and whether it might be too late to make a claim.
