Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Lead Poisoning of Children Under 6
A tenant's child under 6 in my parents' 2-family house (built in 1900) was tested positive with lead poisoning in the summer of 2000. The lead was abated properly in compliance with the guildlines of the Dept of Health as soon as my parents received notice. Now, the tenant is filing a personal injury claim. What are my parents' liable assets (401K, IRA, annuity, savings, stocks, government bonds) if the claim was settled or exhausted by the insurance company?

If the settlement is within the policy limits, there is no further exposure.

Your parents may wish to have their own attorney (not just the insurance company attorney) defend them.
