Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

To Sever an Action

My 6 yr. personal injury case, has come down to my attorney filing a Summary Judgement, against the (2) entities being sued....Intern, (1) of the defendents filed a Summary Judgement against the other..and as of yesterday made ''Motion to Sever Action''---(''What does this mean?)
