Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Loss Of Ownership?

My first cousin who died in January 1996 was part owner of a building in Bronx, NY. Her name and one other party not related to me appeard on the title. He is also deceased. The building had sat unoccupied/abandoned for several years because no one including myself even knew she was a part owner. When it was brought to my attention i contacted a lawyer. An application was suppose to have been filed in Bronx Surrogate's Court to appoint me as administrator of the estate for my family. For reasons unknown to me, it did not happen. A court date was set and the building ended up being sold by the city and the bank of new york at auction. My cousins name has been completely removed from the title and as it stands right now we have possibly lost our share of the real estate. Is there anything i can do?

thanks

Re: Loss Of Ownership?

I am uncertain as to why your application for Administrator was not accepted. Did anyone attept to contact the lender or assume the mortgage payments during this proceeding?

I would need to review your Court application and the foreclosure proceedings to make a determination.

Please feel free to contact me for a complimentary consultation.

There might be but I do not know enough facts even from your lengthy material. Even though I have an office in the Bronx, feel free to call me at the main 845 number of 8782163 for a free quick phone consult.
