Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

mortgage

after being in an accident that kept me from working for several months, my mortgage co. gave me a hardship, until after i returned to work. Their workout dept informed me that i would have to send them $1200, as well as begin to make my monthly mortgage payment. I did both & the mortgage co. returned the $1200 to me informing me it wasn't enough towards what i was behind, yet they kept the monthly payment. Can you explain to me how any money i sent can be refused much less the amount requested by them. Now they are once again requesting the same amount they refused & threatning foreclosure. Do i have any legal leg to stand on in this situation?

Re: mortgage

Send them the money they are requesting via certified mail, return receipt requested. If you are up to date with the bank after that, there is no basis for a foreclosure.
