Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Rooommate Apartment Share Agreement- Amount of Rent

I have moved into an apartment, via a broker, and am sharing it with a woman who has the lease as her "roommate" I have a roommate agreement.. I do not know what her rent is. The apartment is all furnished has 8 rooms, is really nice, it is only the two of us here. I am paying $950 per month, I have my own bedroom and bathroom. and the rest of the apartment to use, except her bedroom and bathroom.

What if I am paying more than half her rent? My friends tell me I am crazy to even think about it, that I have such a great deal, but I can't help but wonder if I am being overcharged.

To be fair, I looked at apartments that were such junk, studios that were tiny disgusting rat traps and $1400 per month. I feel very fortunate to be able to live here but don't want to be taken advantage of.

Re: Rooommate Apartment Share Agreement- Amount of Rent

What makes you think you should only pay half the rent. As a room-mate, she can share you whatever she wants.
