Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

A former supervisor of mine took property costing $100 from me and then broke it. He then offered to replace it or give me money so I could replace it. I chose the former. Ended up he got a cheap replica (it was not apparent to myself or anyone else that he had done this), which, a year later, broke.

I was never a fan of the guy and he was never my friend, so I do want to get money back from him to replace this property. In my area, small claims court costs $15, so I would plan on filing a suit for $115. Is this worth it or should I just suck it up and let him be?

I'd suck it up. Your fact pattern is not as straight forward as you seem to believe it is and you'll spend hours in court to resolve it.
