Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

termites

I recently (9 months ago) purchased a single family home. I had both a home inspection and a pest inspection done. Everything passed according to the inspector. I recently had a pest control person in to inspect as I was having problems with spiders. While in my home he found extensive termite damage as well as evidence it had been treated by someone in the past. I am facing thousands to eliminate the termites plus tens of thousands more to repair the damage. Do I have any legal recourse against either the seller or the inspector?

Re: termites

Perhaps. It depends upon the disclosure given by the Sellers whether or not you have a valid claim against them.

In addition, if the termite inspection was done improperly, you may have a cause of action against the inspection company.

You are advised to promptly consult an attorney who can examine your documentation to determine if you have any recourse.
