I am ny resident and recently recieved speeding ticket for 32 miles over (76 on 45 mile zone.

This is my first one in 10 years.

- should I hire attorney from the court on day of hearing?

Hire a lawyer. You are facing big fines and 8 points. It is wise to fight it.

You should definitely hire an attorney if you can afford one. You are charged with excess speed [more than 31 mph over the speed limit] You face possible license suspension plus points and a significant fine. I am a former Traffic Court Judge and handle matters such as yours. You may contact my office @ 7188340087 for a free phone consultation.

Since you're writing from a Forest Hills location, I'll guess that you received the ticket on one of the bridges.

Tickets issued in NYC are returnable to one of the Traffic Violations Bureaus (ie, DMV Court); there is no plea bargaining. It's probably worth speaking with an attorney- frequently our area expertise (and knowing the cops and the judges) is helpful.

If the summons was issued outside of the City, you have a little more wiggle room, as most jurisdictions have some form of plea bargaining. However, even in these cases hiring an attorney can be helpful, as we can appear on your behalf.
