Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
Ticket for unsafe passing
This morning, I received a ticket for unsafe passing in NY State. This is the 1st ticket I've received in over 20 years of driving - so I'm not sure what to do next. The ticket is marked as a ''traffic infraction'', not as a ''misdemeanor''. What do I do now - Plead guilty/not guilty? Just mail it in or go to court? No fine is listed on the ticket. I obviously want to avoid my insurance rates going up/points on my license/ etc.

Its probably a moving violation and carries points. If its not an inconveinance, you should go to court and work out some plea deal where the ticket gets knocked down to a no-points infraction and you pay a fine.
