estate settlement

If the executor of a small estate(10,000dollarsapx.)

goes to jail for unrelated charges 1to4 years. Does the estate automatically go to an administrator to settle once the original year to settle the estate has past? Is there extra cost to other family members as a result/ Thank you in advance

Re: estate settlement

There is no automatic new administrator. Another family member should go to Court to have the original executor removed and appoint a new administrator.
