Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

my father passed a year i know he had a will but was never summoned .his second wife therefore recieved all assests how do i obtain a copy of the will,and know my rights in this matter.

If the Will was never probated, this can be impossible unless you know the attorney who drew it and he/she willingly gives you a copy. Even that might not help you. Wills only operate on assets registered in an individual's name, so if he only had joint accounts or assets with designated beneficiaries (like life insurance or retirement plans), probate of a Will might not be necessary.
