Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Which Form do we use?

A friend passed away. No will. There is only one relative (his Sister). Assets are under $20.000. Which forms need to be filled. The application for Petition of Letters of Administration OR Affidavit in Relation To Settlement of Estate Under Article 13, SCPA. The goal is to get the funds in the Bank released to the Relative. Getting conflicting answers.

Thank you

Small Estate Forms. You can get them from the Surrogates Court in the County where the deceased lived.

Contact the Surrogate's Court in the County where the decedent lived. Advise them that this is a small estate (under $20,000) and to please provide you w/ the appropriate paper work.
