Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

My grandmother just passed away and I have knowledge that I was left a certain percentage. however I have not seen the will and its becoming apparent that I can't trust anyone. so my question is how do I go about getting a copy of the will? She lived in New York and I reside in Florida.

Without more information I cannot respond properly.

Was there a will?

Are there other uncles and aunts surviving?

Cousins?

The Executor should be able to provide you with a copy of the will. Once it is submitted to probate it becomes a public record and a copy may be obtained from the Surrogate's Court in the county your grandmother resided.

In examining this response, please note that we are not entering into an attorney/client relationship, that this is to be taken as informative, and not as legal advice, that it is always best to speak to a lawyer in your area and/or in the area where the transaction and/or events occurred, and that my answer is necessarily limited by the fact that I have not seen the documentation or had an opportunity to go over the matters with you in detail.
