Leaving assets to family abroad (last will)

I am a British citizen with a green card living and working in New York. I would like to create a will so that my assets (mainly cash) will be left to my parent/brothers who currently reside in the UK. I want to find out more information on the current state laws and any taxes which may be applied or issues in transferring my assets abroad. Information on applicable British laws/restrictions would also be helpful.
