my moms fience was killed a month ago and his son is trying to take everything from my mom. there is a deer head mount that was given to my mom from him and his son is trying to take it now can he do that

You do not say where the mount is located. If it is located in a shared residence (your Mom and her fiance) it might be difficult to verify the gift without something in writing. However, if it is in your Mom's residence, this would probably establish her ownership. Was there a Will? If so, was anything left to Mom? More facts are needed for a proper response.

If it was a gift and she has possession, it is hers.
