I own my house independly. If I die will my wife have to pay a tax on the house if it is willed to her?

No. Only legal fees and court costs to probate your estate and to effectuate the transfer. These could be substantial. Have you considered adding her to the deed now? If done correctly, the house would pass to her automatically upon your death. The cost would be a small fraction of probate.

There is no inheritance tax for property left to a spouse.
