Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in North Carolina

I live in Raleigh, NC. I often sleep in my car. Recently, I was awakened by the police at 3am and they spent an hour interrogating me and searching my car. I have a couple of questions.

Is it illegal or not to sleep in your car if you are not trespassing?

What are my rights when the police ask if they can look through my car? I don't have anything to hide, but I don't like having all my stuff turned upside down. It took me all day to get everything organized again.

Thanks

It is not illegal to sleep in one's car.

However, my former boss told me a long time ago that there are 2 kinds of people out after 12:00 am - cops and bad guys.

The reality is that we are living in a sophisticated police state. The police are little more than Mafiosi-type thugs with a badge. They assault and TASER and kill people for little or no reason.

Forget about legal rights. Legal rights only exist on tv and movies. The reality is that most of our rights under the Bill of Rights sto the US Constitution have been trashed and are worthless. The NC Courts certainly are not going to give you more rights - they are all law and order types. Caselaw has upheld warrantless searches of autos. And the prison-industrial complex that runs the jails/prisons makes money off of keeping as many people locked up as possible.

Unless you want to get hassled some more by the police, find another less obtrusive place to sleep.
