Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in North Carolina

Last yr I fell at a bar and grill. My friends and myself were seated at a table that was on an elevated area about eight or nine inches higher that the ground. We were sitting at the table and ordering food. I decided to get up from the table and head to the restroom. While laughing a a friends joke and pushing in the chair..I fell. I tried to grab for anything to break my fall but it was dark and I couldn't find anything to grab. I told the owner about my fall. She refused to give me an accident report. The following day my husband took me to the ER and I indeed did break my foot. I hired a lawyer and he tells me that he has sent several demand letters and they are just ignoring him. I haven't heard from my lawyer in three months. I feel like I'm being set to the side. Where do I go from here? Do I need to find another lawyer? My family tells me that something here just isn't right.

You probably need to find another attorney. In any event, liability of the bar is probably weak at best. You admitted that you fell because your friend pushed the chair as you got up. It seems you suit should be against your friend and not the bar unless you can show that defective design or maintenance by the bar caused your fall.
