Contractor not finishing work stealing money

Can we legally put a sign in our yard across from where a contractor is working stating that he that stole money from us. Took $3,000 without ever finishing the work even though we have not filed a lawsuite as of yet. Or can this also be a criminal matter. He jsut decided to take the holidays off and never came back or gave any money back. NOw he is working at a neighbors right behind us in full view.

As long as the statements on the sign are true, then you should be allowed to do so. You also want to check with any local ordinances regarding signs.
