Legal Question in Consumer Law in North Carolina

Dog Rescue League Adoption That Went Bad

I adopted a dog from a rescue league I found on the Internet. I paid $320 for the dog under the guise of a ''donation''. I adopted the dog in NC, but live in another state. After getting the dog home I discovered it does not match the ''advertised'' description. The rescue league advertised that they would match one of their dogs with the requirements I wanted (housebroken, laid back, good with cats & other dogs, etc.). In good faith, I took their recommendation and adopted the dog they said was a good fit for me. I signed an agreement that stated that if for any reason I did not want the dog, I promised to return it to the rescue league. What I need to know is that because the dog was falsely advertised, am I entitled to a refund to be made whole? Thank you.

Re: Dog Rescue League Adoption That Went Bad

The dog that you are unhappy with may not have

necessarily been "falsely advertised", merely because it doesn't live up to all of your expectations.

Whether you're entitled to a refund under these or any other circumstances would depend upon the terms of the agreement which you signed.
