Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

I would like to have a assault on female charge expunged from my record. The charge is from 1994. I have tried to and the DA denied the request. His reason is that there is another charge that was dismissed by the DA in another county, but he said it had civil attached to the file. The case was totaly unrelated to the assault. I called the clerk of court in the county of the dismissal and asked what the civil meant because it was dismissed and they told me it was just something that was noted in the case, but there is nothing civil pending. I tried to speak with the DA that denied my request and ask what I could do to help my situation and he refused to talk to me. What other avenues can I take to get this removed?

sounds to me that you aren't getting the point; the DA is refusing because you have had a similar criminal charge dismissed..the civil aspect has nothing to do with it...unless I misunderstood what you said in your message...either way, the only thing i can recommend is hire an attorney to look into the matter for you who can talk to the DA; especially if you haven't had anything expunged before (which is the stnd under the statute)
